In 1861 North Dakota became part of the Dakota Territory South Dakota and some of Wyoming and Montana. North Dakota continued to grow in the 1870s  with the arrival of the railroad. On November 2, 1889 North Dakota was admitted to the contry. North Dakota was first setteld by Native Americans several years ago.
